Following an incident on New Years Day 1923, what is now called the "Rosewood Massacre" descimated the prosperous town. On the 10th Anniversary of Governor Lawton Chiles signing a precedent-setting compensation bill for the survivors of the 1923 Rosewood Massacre and their families, Governor Jeb Bush dedicated a Florida Heritage Landmark roadside marker. One of those on hand for the dedication was Allenetta Robinson Morton who was 8 years old at the time of the massacre. Mat Size: 20" x 16"
