This is an engraving of artwork completed by Dali in 1964. The original was purchased by the King of Monaco for his private collection - price undisclosed but most estimate around $2 million. Because of its popularity, the entire series which Dali called "La Vida es Sueno" which translates to "Life is a Dream" was published in 1975 by Editorial Subirana, Barcelona, Spain. In this "book", which is actually a humongous volume consisting of 16 Dali engravings, this particular engraving is entitled "The Vision of Paradise". The publishers got a judgment letter signed by Dali which signifies all engravings in their book were authentic Dalis and they embellished them which is what you see outside the circle which is what encompassed the original Dali painting. Editorial Subirana issued a very limited edition of this particular etching The Vision of Paradise to 75 editions and they were released as Aquatint engravings in 1975. This particular engraving is No. 61 of 75. What is more incredible about this rare engraving is the framing and matting of this spectacular piece. Take note of the artwork that embellishes the matting in the same artform which was used by Editorial Subirana in 1975. The overall condition of this Salvadore Dali piece is PRISTINE. This "Life Is a Dream" engraving was removed from the original volume issued by Editorial Subirana which was purchased by the owner in 1975 as he had a particular penchant for this engraving. Framed size is 20" X 24".
