Movin On Estate Sales

This early painting was just freshly picked and found in a trunk here in Ocala. The paper shown in pics was with it. Jean Louis Ernest Meissonier was born 1815-1891 and lived in France. He is known for academic painting-Aristocrat figure & war genre. This painting is of Napoleon on horseback from Campagne De France, 1814. It is artist signed bottom right corner. On the paper there is a low estimate of 15,000.00 with a high of 20,000.00. Appears (according to paper) it was in an auction but did not sell in 2017. Maybe they had a 15k reserve on it?? I don’t know. We don’t know. All I can say about it is I’m not an art expert but I think this could be a very good investment. It’s old! Could use a slight cleaning but no holes or damage to the canvas. Measures 10.75” X 8.63”.  Frame measures 14 1/2” X 12 1/4”.
