Antique Spindle Back Chair
An antique spindle back chair.
Pressed back and pressed seat.
Beautifully aged, the wood chair features a spindle back and turned stretchers.
This unusual spindle back chair was found at an estate sale. Passed on, by many lookers.
The spindles are not round, but flat with curve. Like a finger nail that is slightly higher in the middle.
This is the true story behind this chair. My grandparents bought it from Sears in 1925 for my mother. Then it was used by her two brothers and one sister, next it was mine, and on to three cousins, but one of those cousins had a twin, who got her own metal and plastic chair. It’s long gone! It went back to my grandparents where my other cousins used when they were in town. My grandfather gave it to me before he died. In 1983 our daughter was born and used it. It’s still waiting for a fourth generation baby!! I think you are right about it being handmade. The shape of the tray on mine is slightly different and it has never been altered from its original state! I love mine!
