Description:

This scientific instrument was developed in the later 1800’s in Manchester, England. It’s used for map-making & surveying. There is one like this one on display in a museum of scientific & surveying instruments at Princeton University. The case is in great shape considering its age, & all together weighs probably 40 pounds. Box is 35-3/4” X 6” X 5-1/4”. Great little card inside with period writing that I certainly couldn’t interpret (and it’s in English!)
