Born Nicolo Sturiano in Marsala, Italy and migrating to the U.S. in 1964, H. Hargrove (who picked his Americanized name from a New York phone book) renewed his love of painting while working at a winery in upstate New York. His employer began displaying his art in a public tasting area of the winery. When his art became more popular than the wine he decided to persue his passion.
