Description:

Lt. Tom Harmon won the Heisman Trophy in 1940. In March 1942 he enlisted as a cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart after being shot down over the Yangtze River in October of 1943. He is also the father of actor Mark "Leroy Jethro Gibbs" Harmon.
