The extreme seasons of the Norwegian Arctic, life on the North Cape island of Magerøya, and the local flora and fauna inspire Eva Schmutterer. Eva's creative approach to collage and keen eye capture the interplay of color, shadow, and darkness on the rugged beauty of her island home. Eva Schmutterer's works are exhibited year round in her two galleries located in Northern Norway - East of the Sun and West of the Moon.  Eva has a fresh take on collage art. Each of Eva's originals begins with a sketch made during walks around the island. When a sketch is finished, she begins to cut and paste. Eva can spend hours searching through her collection of old magazines to find pieces with the right color and shading. She gradually builds the picture by gluing each piece one-by-one to the backing, which helps her to achieve a quality of depth.  This is an original work of art by Eva Schmutterer entitled "Hostglimt" and was created in 2006.
