This extremely beautiful ship was picked fresh from a great local estate and I got the story from the elderly gentleman. He also wrote out the known history of it which I took pic of. You can have that as well but am going to briefly state what he wrote in case you can’t read it. Here goes:
“This ship was purchased by my father in the late 1930’s in Cedar Key. My understanding is that it was constructed by an elderly Greek sponge diver from Tarpon Springs. It’s at least 80 years old and been in my family as long as I can remember. At the time of construction, an electric light was placed inside to light all the portholes”.
This is truly an amazing work of art and not comparable to just an old wooden ship model. You will NEVER find another like it! Great Florida original work of art! The really nice glass case has an old mirrored back. The cord is still there for the porthole lights. I plugged in( appears plenty safe to do so) but nothing. I did not open or attempt to check bulbs, etc. Just the way I found it.
