Description:

Mr. Bucksbaum's obituary:

BUCKSBAUM, ELMER "GUY" 89 - of Pleasantville and Davie, FL, on May 22, 2009, at the age of 89 slipped from the land of the living and into a peaceful rest in the great beyond. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 67 years, Faye Bucksbaum, his child and son in law Sharon and Marc Lovitz, his four grandchildren, Scott Lovitz, Caryn Hurlock, Geoffrey Lovitz, and Adam Bucksbaum, as well as, by his three-great-grandchildren, Jacob Hurlock, Manu Lovitz, and Eliana Hurlock. Ever the eternal optimist, he typically answered the question, "How are you doing?" with his signature line, "Fantastic!" and by simply being fantastic, he had come to peace with the amazement of life's many adventures, be the as cherished and honored husband, as caring father and grandfather, as hero in the ball turret of a B17 bomber over Europe, as an accomplished tap dancer, remarkable artist, and more than competent fiscal overseer. For a boy who never graduated from High School, he was amazed at the accomplishments for which he had claimed as his own. Always quick with a joke, yet never one to speak when speech was nothing more than self serving, he was a quiet and humble man. As such, though always in a way particular to his own, he was an absolute pleasure to have around. He was not one to dwell on the past, but rather to cherish each day as it was offered to him. For sure, his Faye was his everything. It will be hard to imagine one without the other, but he will always live on in spirit, both within her, his family, and all of those who were lucky enough to have crossed his path.
