W.D. Allison Physician Stool .
Turn of the 20th Century Design. Original Oil Cloth Seats and Original Caning.
I am excited to be only the third owner of this chair. Only two others owned it before.
I did extensive research and could only find one other chair like it on 1stdibs.
This chair came from an estate of a lady who was over 90 years old in 2017.
She had owned it for over fifty years. She had worked in an Orphanage in Chicago. Where she used the chair.
it was donated to the Orphanage by a dentist who bought it new he used it in his office until he retired.
How excited we were to take off the white vinyl covering of the seat to find the original oil cloth seat still in great condition.
The swivel works very well and is consistant with chair that is over a 100 years old.
The chair was made by the W.D. Allison Co. of Indianapolis And. and still has the original Manufacturers plate
on the back of the chair that is very legible.
W.D. Allison Co. started out as G.H. Clark & Co. in 1882. Its name became W.D. Allison in 1893. The company became a large manufacturer of medical and dental chairs, tables, cabinets, bookcases, instrument tables and wheelchairs.
